Queens Park Rangers are preparing for a crucial transfer window after finishing 15th in the Championship last season. Julien Stephan’s side showed promise under the French manager, but another strong summer of recruitment is needed to push for a top-half finish.

What’s happening at Loftus Road?

Jonathan Varane remains the biggest name in the QPR transfer mix. The French midfielder, signed for £875,000 two years ago, has drawn fresh interest from St Etienne. The Ligue 2 side tried again this summer but were rebuffed by Loftus Road. Varane’s value has risen sharply since his arrival, meaning a sale could deliver a tidy profit for the West London club.

Ziyad Larkeche’s future looks bleak under Julien Stephan. The left-back was left out of Austria’s squad alongside Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Zan Celar, signaling he’s not in the manager’s plans. A move away is now expected. Goalkeeper Murphy Cooper is also set to leave, with Plymouth Argyle the reported destination—though nothing is confirmed yet.

Who’s staying and who’s going?

Queens Park Rangers have already reshaped their goalkeeping ranks. Pierce Charles arrived on loan from Manchester City, while Calum Ward joined from Motherwell after a standout 2025/26 season in the Scottish Premiership. Joe Walsh left on loan to Wigan Athletic, while Paul Nardi and Ben Hamer were released. Cooper is next in line to exit, leaving Matteo Salamon as the third-choice option behind Charles and Ward.

Sam Field is the only player to have left QPR officially so far, moving to Norwich City permanently. Isaac Hayden and Steve Cook were released and have since joined League One sides Leyton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers respectively.

Who’s coming in?

Yanis Cimignani is the latest name linked with a move to Loftus Road. The FC Lugano midfielder impressed last season in the Swiss Super League and has drawn interest from multiple clubs. Whether QPR can land him remains uncertain, but his versatility could add depth to Stephan’s squad.

The Hoops have also added Boy Kemper, who became their first summer signing. The Dutch defender’s arrival marked the start of what could be a busy window if QPR want to push for a playoff spot under the expanded Championship format.
