Justin Obikwu joins Queens Park Rangers on permanent deal
Queens Park Rangers have completed the permanent signing of Coventry City youngster Justin Obikwu for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old striker joins from the Sky Blues after impressing during loan spells at Grimsby Town and Lincoln City.
Obikwu scored 10 goals in 35 appearances across two loan stints with Grimsby Town in League Two. Last season, he netted three times in 21 games while helping Lincoln City reach second place in the table. The forward did not make a senior appearance for Coventry since joining from Harefield United in 2021.
Why this transfer matters for QPR
The Championship side will be hoping Obikwu can bring his goalscoring form to Loftus Road. His experience in lower leagues and ability to find the net make him an exciting prospect for manager Michael Beale. The deal was facilitated after Coventry recalled Obikwu from his Lincoln loan.
Obikwu will now look to establish himself in Queens Park Rangers' first team. With pre-season underway, the young striker will aim to impress in training and friendly matches ahead of the new Championship campaign. His development will be closely watched by fans eager to see him adapt to higher-level football.
